The role of a mentor can take on many forms, both formal and informal, and has the potential to improve skills for both the mentor and mentee. You might be considered a mentor when you host a student teacher, have a new teammate, support a new teacher through induction, mentor an alternative licensure candidate, or simply share your expertise with someone who has less experience/skills/knowledge than you in a given area. Learn how to maximize your role as a mentor to reap the benefits and provide essential support to your mentees.
